‘Fragmented Stillness’: Finding Calm in the Shenandoah

The ‘Fragmented Stillness’ series is my exploration of balance—between chaos and calm, color and silence, motion and rest. Inspired by the landscapes of Virginia’s Shenandoah National Park, these pieces use layered color fields, broken lines, and subtle texture to capture the stillness that lives within movement.
Each work feels like a moment suspended in time—a quiet reminder that stillness isn’t about stopping, but about noticing. This collection reflects my life and environment over the past year: the mountains I’ve hiked, the views I’ve absorbed, and the space I’ve found to breathe again.
You can experience the ‘Fragmented Stillness’ series in person as part of the Women Artists of the DMV exhibition, “Daughter of the Stars,” at Melissa Ichiuji Studio Gallery in Front Royal, VA. The exhibition runs through December 7th.
🖼️ Visit Melissa Ichiuji Studio Gallery to view the full collection. The Gallery is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday 11am-6pm.
